Why I teach

I have a vision that all the children in my community, especially those that have extra needs, are given the opportunity of an excellent education. I am inspired by the wonderful capabilities of these learners. They are all capable of success!

As a preservice teacher, I am motivated to become a knowledgable, caring, and effective leader in the classroom as the best way to eliminate the inequality of educational opportunity in my community.
To be an inspiring and motivating teacher for my students, I am dedicated to consistent reflection on my practice, my ongoing learning, and my openness to constructive criticism.

Thank you for viewing my portfolio for the Sanford Inspire credential program. Please take a look below at a selection of evidence to fulfill the California Teaching Performance Expectations (TPEs).

Rules and procedures class assignment

Class assignment to design brochure for parents on classroom rules and procedures.

Getting to know me

This is my introduction for the students in my clinical practice classroom. Building relationships is a top priority for several reasons. This is the first step...letting them know a bit about why I am in their class.

Professionalism for new teachers

This is a pictochart detailing some advice for new teachers based on what I learned about the standards of professionalism for educators.

Spanish Brochure asking for parental involvement

Parental involvement is a vital part of any classroom. I want to encourage parents to be as involved in their child's education as they can possibly be. Because the majority of people in my community are Latino, I created this brochure in Spanish.

Cultural Basket

The professional educator must identify and eradicate her biases to the degree possible. This assignment allowed me to examine my "cultural basket" and reflect on how my grounding in a particular culture colors how I see the world.

Classroom rules brochure for Parents

This brochure communicates why I have the rules I do in my classroom.

History of Education in California

In this assignment I learned about the history of education in California.
